Azure Migration

Project Summary

Structured migration of an on-premises server estate to Microsoft Azure.  Production infrastructure migration requiring controlled wave planning and coordinated client validation.

The engagement first established an Azure Landing Zone and assessed governance, hypervisor, VM, and network readiness, then deployed Azure Migrate, replication, and the required cloud network services.

Migration was organized into two controlled waves: 36 VMs including five SQL workloads, followed by 46 VMs, with each wave sequenced through source shutdown, Azure start-up, technical validation, backup enablement, and replication cleanup.

Project concluded with architecture/build documentation, Azure portal walkthrough, lessons learned, and project closeout.

Project Details
  • Project success released Microsoft funding, with funding milestones explicitly identify as a Landing Zone, a 36-VM/5-SQL first wave, and a 46-VM second wave with hard, non-negotiable dates.
  • Discovery covered Azure tenant access, governance alignment, hypervisor readiness, VM readiness, network assessment, and migration planning.
  • Azure Migrate appliance deployment, discovery, assessment, networking, service accounts, replication, and test migration were sequenced prerequisites.
  • Both migration waves contain shutdown, start-up, validation, backup, cleanup, and completion activities.
demonstrated capabilities
