Azure Landing Zone, Cloud Adoption Framework Review, Azure ADDS

Project Summary

Azure Cloud Adoption Framework/Landing Zone review covering identity and access, governance and resource organization, network topology and connectivity, compute, and DevOps strategy.  Architects produced high-level designs for both the Azure Landing Zone and Azure AD Domain Services.

A client review stage was deliberately inserted before the pilot because the proposed use of Azure ADDS as a replacement for on-premises domain controllers raised architectural constraints.  The schedule preserved the option to proceed, revise, or stop rather than treating implementation as automatic.

Project Details
  • Two workshops and structured review streams led to a high-level Landing Zone report and an Azure AD DS design.
  • Detailed pilot implementation tasks were scheduled
demonstrated capabilities

Responsible stage-gate management: design findings were allowed to challenge the original implementation premise.  Project manager helped prevent momentum from overriding architectural feasibility and client decision-making, since assumptions made initially were proven to be false during the pilot assessment and discovery.
