Disaster Recovery with Azure Site Recovery (ASR)

Project Summary

Design and implementation of an Azure Site Recovery solution to improve disaster-recovery capability.  Project established ASR and infrastructure requirements, reviewed current Azure subscription and architecture, design of the recovery solution, business-continuity checklist development, and prepared both Azure and the source environment for replication.  Replication was enabled, and a test failover was performed.

Project Details
  • Critical sequence: Access → Environment Review → DR design → Peer Review → BCP Planning → Replication Preparation → Replication → Test Failover → Documentation/Walkthrough → Handover.
  • A material blocker involving private endpoints, private DNS, VPN routing, and an unrelated network outage impacted a Key Vault dependency, requiring escalation to Microsoft and schedule delays.
  • Project completed successfully with failover test at 100%.
demonstrated capabilities

An example of proactive issue and risk management, recognizing that a security/network preference had become a delivery constraint.  The project required rebalancing the immediate proof-of-concept/funding objective with the client’s longer-term production security requirements.   Significant change control was applied, demonstrating outage thinking, escalation, technical option and outcome management.
