ERP Migration and Integrations

A Project Manager’s Perspective…

12-month migration from a legacy Deltek platform to NetSuite for a 700+ employee SaaS organization, supporting core client billing and financial processes across seven business units.

Program required significant legacy data cleansing, business-process analysis and NetSuite customization, delivered with an external implementation partner. The broader ERP transformation ultimately generated more than 20 related workstreams and sub-projects requiring coordinated planning, integration, testing, stakeholder management and organizational transition.

Success depended as much on business processes, data and user acceptance as it did on the technology itself. I worked closely with the financial controller, the implementation partner, technical specialists and internal IT resources to coordinate the requirements, solution design, data migration and testing activities.

One of the important early activities was understanding the differences between how the organization operated in Deltek and how those processes would work in NetSuite. This required coordinating fit-gap discussions, clarifying requirements and ensuring that the business stakeholders understood which processes would change.

Data migration was another significant consideration. We needed to determine what information should move into the new system and what historical information could remain accessible in the legacy environment. We retained Deltek in a read-only capacity for historical reference rather than assuming every historical record needed to be migrated.

I coordinated the technical and business workstreams, including user acceptance testing, issue resolution and preparation for the transition. The project also required consideration of downstream financial processes and integrations, including reporting and payroll-related interfaces.

My role was to bridge the business and technical teams, maintain the implementation plan, track dependencies and ensure that the finance stakeholders could validate the solution before go-live.

This project reinforced that an enterprise application implementation is not simply a software installation, but a business change involving data quality, process design, stakeholder acceptance and operational readiness.
